A thigh lift, technically called a thighplasty, is a surgical procedure to correct loose, saggy skin and excess fat deposits in the thighs. As we age, the effects of gravity and weight changes can cause our thighs to become loose and flabby. When there is only excess fat in the thighs, liposuction alone can be considered instead of a thigh lift. However, in cases where the skin elasticity is poor, a thigh lift is preferred to tighten the droopy skin.
Thighplasty and Liposculpting Candidates
People whose weight is stable are suitable candidates for thigh lifts. You may get thighplasty if you have extra soft tissue in the inner (medial) and/or outer (lateral) thigh regions.
Non-smokers who are in good health and don’t have any conditions that would increase the chance of surgical complications make the best candidates for thighplasty and liposculpting.
Thigh lift surgery with liposculpting is suitable for those with a good outlook and realistic expectations for the results. The best candidates are those who want to live a healthy life, which includes eating right and working out regularly.

Thighplasty and Liposculpting Results
Initial results are immediately apparent after a thigh lift. However, it can take time for the results to fully materialize as swelling ameliorates.
After a thigh lift and liposculpting, the thighs look contoured and sculpted. As long as you stay at a healthy weight and stay active, the overall effects will last.
Thigh Lift Recovery
You will be advised to rest for two to four weeks following your thighplasty and liposculpting surgery. It will be necessary to avoid physically taxing activities.
Visible bruising should go away in two weeks, and swelling should start to go down in six weeks. Bruising could last for several months. Dr. Ikeda usually recommends that patients wear compression wraps on their legs for a few weeks after surgery to avoid getting leg edema.
The extent of the procedure will determine how long recuperation takes. The majority of patients experience minimal discomfort that can be treated with pain-control medication.
